There is Nothing Between You and Heaven
April 18, 2008
Here is a quote from the Epilogue of George Bernard Shaw’s play Saint Joan. It is spoken by Pierre Cauchon, the Bishop of Beauvais, about Joan of Arc…
“The girls in the field praise thee; for thou hast raised their eyes; and they see that there is nothing between them and heaven.”
We can all learn from this powerful statement. If we want answers…we need only to meditate/pray and ask the spiritual realm for guidance…God, Jesus, Buddha, Mohamed, the Virgin Mary, Angels, Spirit Guides, Saints, deceased relatives, whomever you pray to. Write down the answers that you receive…reflect on them…they are holy words…a direct connection with heaven…channelled through you…for you. Heaven can be with us all of the time…we just need to connect to it.
Here is a message I received one day while meditating…
“Child, don’t you know who you are and what you are capable of? You are capable of so much and are full of so much power and love.”
That simple phrase empowered me to use the love inside myself as my mode of operation..to realize that this love was flowing through me from the universe…that I was the receptacle of this love…and that I needed to pass it on to others…and it was in doing this that I would find my power, my self-confidence, and realize my potential on this earth. Wayne Dyer explained this concept of imagining a “heart reservoir” within yourself in his book Being in Balance. He explains that love is constantly flowing from the Source, through our “reservoirs” and out into the world. There is no end to this Source of love. Imagine a constant flow. It is always there and always being replenished.
Remember…there is nothing between you and heaven.
Strength in Softness
April 16, 2008
To be a healer…to make a difference in someone’s life…to be healed…you need to be what you are…to know what you are…to know who you are …to feel reverence towards yourself…to let the healing flow through you and to have the quiet confidence to know that you are on the right path.
A daisy knows how to be a daisy even though it is a simple wildflower…but beautiful nonetheless. It is not the flower that you would expect to see decorating the tables of an elegant party…or the promoted flower at Valentine’s Day. It is not considered to be an exotic flower in these parts. Yet what flower is more suited as a fairy crown than a hand woven wreath of daisies? What flower is a better symbol of bright, sunny summer days? In meditations my father has told me that the daisy is my flower, that it represents my spirit…that I had to learn that it’s OK to have this as a favorite flower…even though it was not sophisticated or grandiose. It was the flower of my First Communion head wreath…a symbol of freshness…untainted by the world and its negativity…pure simple joy…delicateness and yet sturdy…abundant and unpretentious…loving the sun.
So, the daisy can be a symbol for me as I strive to become who I truly am…a symbol of quiet pride, self-worth, self-knowledge, self-confidence and simplicity. There is indeed strength in softness. When you know where you fit into the scheme of things…you will understand this.
Meditation: Imagine a vast meadow of tall grasses and daisies blowing in the wind on a warm, sunny day…the wind blowing the daisies and grasses…down they go…and then they spring up again…constant motion. Become part of this field…feel the sun on your face and back. Feel how alive you are.
My Cup is Overflowing and I Didn’t Even Know It
April 14, 2008
I have a deck of French Tarot cards called “Taromantic.” I have the habit of picking one and meditating on its meaning for the day to come. The card I picked on July 9th was the “As de Coupe, “the Ace of Cups” card. It shows a picture of a goblet with a turreted castle on the top of it. It reads…
- Joy
- Happiness
- Contentment in emotional life
- Realisation of projects and ambitions
- Enthusiasm
- Plenitude in private life and peacefulness of heart
These realisations ring out in my blog entry for today, which I wrote last July.
How is it that we are so far into July already? Look around you…and list things that you see, feel, hear…that remind you of this season.
- Every night there is a “firefly party” in my yard. They are everywhere and create what I call my own private “fairyland” . So quiet with bright, flashing lights coming from the trees and the garden-even the hanging plants.
- Fresh pies for sale at the farmers’ markets.
- Baby deer…white spots and all…eating greenery.
- Snap peas are here for the snapping.
- Big cumulus clouds are hovering in the sky.
- Hot days/humid as well.
- Sleeping with ceiling fans on and windows open.
- Popcorn at the movies.
- Sweating, sweating, sweating.
- Cat tails growing in the ditch behind the mailbox.
- Frogs croaking all night long.
- Hanging plants plants…don’t forget to water them every morning.
- Porches for sitting/socializing/reading/decorating/painting.
- Craft supplies piling up with school papers from the last days of the school year.
- No shoes need to be worn.
- Kids’ voices coming from the swimming pool next door.
- A watermelon plaque on the front door.
- Raspberries on the bushes ready to eat each day…so red and juicy and delicate. Ready made breakfast on the vine.
- Garage sales abound.
- Sunflowers getting taller.
- Black-eyed Susans just about ready to open…Echinacheas too.
- Mint past its prime.
- Birds and bunnies out in full force…along with mice and Japanese beetles.
- Ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner…chocolate and creme brulee.
- Strawberry shortcake.
- Firecrackers popping at night.
- Family gatherings on the porch.
- The front door in a constant state of opening and closing.
- Reading magazines at night.
- The elderberries have white blossoms.
- Robins in the mulberry tree.
- American flags flapping in the breeze.
- Always knowing where to find the constellation Cassiopeia is in the evening sky.
Sit down and list what’s happening in your world…today. By doing this…we are connecting ourselves to our environment…to life flowing around us. We will then realize the plentitude offered to us in our lives. What the universe offers to teach each one of us at different times of the year is that each moment is special and beautiful. We need to stop and bask in this joy from time to time…why not on a daily basis..and say thank you to the universe. We need not always dwell on our time schedules, whether our house needs dusting, our unfinished projects, etc. Appreciate what’s going on around us – that’s where “life” is. In appreciating life…we strengthen our connection to the loving source of the universe. Don’t measure life by the calendar, measure it by the richness of our experiences, by the feel of the seasons and the pull of the tides.
I think back to the Tarot card that I chose randomly from my deck and have come to the realization that “my cup is overflowing with all the goodness life has to offer.”
